The Queen of Swords represents that part of us that has to shake things up in order to get them moving again. When you're bored to tears and feel that life isn't moving anywhere, it's time to take matters into your own hands. Sitting around on the sidelines waiting for life to take off is not the mark of the queen. She's determined, go-getting, spontaneous to the point of being erratic. She's grown impatient with rules and routines and now she wants action.There's a fickle side the queen too. She changes her mind. She may lack consideration for others. This is not out of malice but out of a deep desire go somewhere new, to start an adventure, to be her own boss. When the Queen of Swords appears in a spread the main message is movement. In order to dig ourselves out of a rut we need to do something different. Changing the variables will change the outcome. It's something we all know but it can be tough to put into action. We want something external to change by chance, but in truth, something internal must change by design in order for our lives to really change for the better. Luck is only half the story.
Remember to also heed the card's warning. Try to step on as few toes as possible in your quest for excitement and pastures new. Being hurtful or destructive in order to get what you want is not going to make you happy in the long run. Others around you may be more fragile, obedient creatures than you are. You want to break all the rules but others want to live by them, and may find your chaotic, hedonistic behaviour offensive or intimidating. Feathers sometimes have to be ruffled when we're turning our lives upside down and that's to be expected, but being intentionally cruel or dismissive is a mark on our character and should be avoided.
